Dr. Karen Stierman came to Austin to practice otolaryngology in July 2001. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in electrical engineering, graduating with honors. Dr. Stierman is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is affiliated with numerous professional organizations. She has participated in research and published many papers in the field of otolaryngology. Additionally, she participated in FIERO (Foundation for Innovation, Educational and Research in Otorhinolaryngology) and served as editor-in-chief of IVOICE, a clinical online journal. Dr. Stierman is an affiliate faculty member at Dell Medical School and serves on the scientific advisory board for ENTvantage.

Dr. Russell D. Briggs was raised in Winter Haven, Florida, and completed his undergraduate studies at Davidson College in North Carolina, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with honors. Dr. Briggs moved to Austin in 2006 where he joined Dr. Karen Stierman’s practice. He is a board-certified otolaryngologist and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). In addition, Dr. Briggs is a recipient of the Patient’s Choice Award, which represents the top 6 percent of physicians nationwide. In 2020, he was honored to be named as one of the Top Doctors in annual medical edition of Austin Monthly, which recognizes the best physicians in the Austin area as chosen by peers.
